Nia Jax is a professional wrestler known for her strength and dominance in WWE. She was signed to the company in 2014 and debuted in NXT under the name Zada, later changing to Nia Jax. She is known as a former WWE RAW Women’s Champion and WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion. Nia Jax is also a cousin of The Rock, further adding to her fame within the wrestling world.
Nia Jax, born Savelina Fanene on May 29, 1984, in Sydney, Australia, was raised in a multicultural family of Samoan and German descent. Though born in Australia, she grew up primarily in the United States, particularly in Hawaii and later in San Diego, California. A natural athlete from a young age, she played basketball during her school and college years. She earned a degree in Marketing from California State University, San Marcos. Before entering professional wrestling, Nia worked as a plus-size model. She is also a cousin of WWE legend Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, which partly influenced her entry into the wrestling world.
Nia Jax’s philosophy centers on strength, confidence, and authenticity. She embraces her unique identity in a world that often favors conformity, using her platform to promote body positivity and mental wellness. In and out of the ring, she believes in staying true to oneself, pushing boundaries, and overcoming challenges through resilience. Her approach to wrestling combines power and emotion, aiming not only to dominate her opponents but also to inspire fans—especially women—to feel empowered and proud of who they are.
